Museum Membership

Since earliest time, both the uninitiated and devoted chroniclers of the heavens have stood in bewilderment and awe beneath the uncanny blackening of midday - a total eclipse. Beneath this slowly encroaching contradiction we find ourselves thrown into a land of deep shadows, shadows that intimate fragility and transience. Immersed in this momentary night however, our eyes become uniquely able to perceive the unperceivable - the glittering splendor of the crystalline stellar sky at midday and impossible views of fiery whips of coronal radiance rarely seen. Yet this seeming eternity of still, diurnal night is brief, and the great shadow that travels the path of totality into which we have fallen moves on.

So it is with our ongoing work at the Museum of Jurassic Technology. We have, over the years, come to know both uncanny darkness - a darkness through which we have been given important ways of seeing - as well as the lux vitae lucida, dazzling light of unimagined radiance. And we have, as well, come to understand the necessity of both.

You, our friends and members, are to us this lux vitalis, this very light of life without whom we would not, could not exist. And by extension, then, perhaps the Museum is the Moon. Without you we are but a cold, lifeless body, yet, with you and the inexplicable perfect fit between the Sun and the Moon, we are able to offer, if only for a brief moment, uncanny encounters and sights never before seen.
