On March 25, 1961 Zvezdochka, daughter of the stars, the last of a group of 11 remarkable dogs, was hurtled into space amidst the flaming cacophony of a Vostok four thousand kN rocket launch known to the world as Sputnik 10.

Here at the Museum we feel a strange affinity for these first exceptional, earth-born creatures to leave our planet. Like the dogs, we feel ourselves to be lonely vanguards in a rarefied and unknown atmosphere. But, like Zvezdochka, we are emboldened by those who have gone before while knowing full well the risks and hardships of the journey.

Zvezdochka however, unlike her comrades who went before, shared her capsule with a mannequin of another species—a surrogate for those shortly to follow—those who were to receive thunderous acclaim.

In the same fashion, we at the Museum of Jurassic Technology understand our work to be preparatory—a path-finding effort for others known, yet unknown, in whom nonetheless we fully trust and in whom we have unending faith. And this other species we now know to be you, our patrons.

Our efforts in this mission have been only precursory to the splendid voyages to follow for which we are but grateful preparators. The undertaking thus far has been inspiring but the vistas ahead are ever more extraordinary.

We would only respectfully ask of you, our patrons, to continue to support this, our unlikely yet shared mission. The journey thus far would not have been possible without your generous and enduring support and its continuation without your help, impossible.
